“The 2026 Stanley Cup Final is not allowed to be boring. The quota didn’t say they had to be bangers, but these teams are overachievers. We got another comeback because clearly we haven’t had enough of those along with some scrappy goals and for the first time, a goal wasn’t scored in the last 5 minutes to flip this game on its head. Instead, we *only* got an intense final few minutes as Vegas tried to tie it up and an Hurricanes’ empty netter to seal it Jokes aside, this was a great game, just not quite an all-time classic. The Hurricanes started out strong thanks to the Stake n Hall line taking over and ravaging Vegas in the first few minutes. Mark Stone continued his brilliant run by scoring shortly after only for the true star of this game to make an impact: old man Jordan Staal. He scored to make it 3-1 only for Vegas to do their standard 2nd period dominance and tie it up. The 3rd was scrappy and fittingly was decided by a falling Staal lobbing the puck over the assaulter’s glove”
