As someone who was there, I’m pretty baffled by the high ratings for this one. Feels like people just looked at the final score and assumed it must have been a great game. Four-point game is very deceiving in this case. Butler led wire to wire and the Bulldogs were up double digits for a decent chunk of it. Georgetown hit a couple shots late to cut into the deficit, but it didn’t matter at all because the Hoyas couldn’t get a single defensive stop against a shorthanded opponent. The final team stats wound up being pretty even, but Butler controlled this one the whole way. Finley Bizjack dropped 19 points and former Terp Jamie Kaiser had 16. Five Hoyas scored in double figures, led by Caleb Williams’ 16 points. Some good shotmaking from both teams, but the defense was putrid. I sat next to a couple NBA scouts, so that was cool.
