“A real nail biter throughout most of the early goings as these teams could never truly pull away from each other. Eventually though, Northwestern found that secret sauce. It was actually in the front of the pantry and it’s called rebounding. Despite the Nittany Lions shooting better than Northwestern, particularly from 3, the gap in rebounding prowess meant Penn State had a harder time clawing back in this game when the Wildcats began to pull away in the 2nd half. Martinelli was a big part of that. Grabbing 9 of their 28 boards while also putting up a super efficient 24 points. Jayden Reid struggled with his shot, but his playmaking was sharp and Kropp was surprisingly helpful on the glass for a guy who averaged 2 boards coming into this one. Penn State finishes their season in disappointing fashion in spite of Jurić’s genuinely great game. If only he got the boards too and was a little less turnover prone. Northwestern was feasting on alllll of Penn State’s turnovers, not just Jurić’s”
