Great game between two of the best and most fun teams to watch. While Montreal has the better top-end talent between these teams, it was Minnesota in control of the puck more often than not. At first, possession weighed heavily in the Wild’s favour. There were long stretches where Montreal just couldn’t take the puck. It helped some of Minnesota’s best players strike first thanks to Eriksson Ek and Kaprizov. If not for Brendan Galgher gliding around a gassed Quinn Hughes, the Wild easily could’ve had a strangle hold after 1, instead, Montreal used that last minute goal to get some momentum. It took almost the entire 2nd period, but they did it. Lane Hutson sent a perfect pass through the entire Wild lineup and found Demidov for the tying goal in the final seconds. Once again, Montreal carried that momentum into the next period and got the lead early. Then, Montreal exhaled and the Wild dominated possession. Boldy tied it and Kirill the Thrill won it in OT. A straightforward great game.
