“This game will very likely and ironically hurt both teams. Does this qualify as the Leafs’ first round playoff series this year? It is against Boston tbf so I think it should count. Although the Leafs won and we know that never happens. Pouring salt in the wound aside, the Leafs genuinely outplayed the Bruins, no way around it. This game initially looked like it would be a valuable win for the Bruins in their playoff race. Elias Lindholm scored 5 minutes in and considering what we know about this Leafs team, most would assume they shrivelled up and died. Instead, it was the Bruins who proceeded to flat line and let Toronto take full control of the game. Brad Treliving’s favourite player got the first goal, then John Tavares set up the next goals for Domi and Nylander to make it 3-1 in the 3rd period. McAvoy would cut the deficit to 1, but you’d think the Bruins were down 3 with how sluggish they looked. It may be Boston’s worst game of the season at a time when they need every point.”
