“This started out as a pitching duel and lasted for 2/3s of the game. Then that foundation began to crumble and it looked like it would come down to the wire; only for the Twins to create a lead far too big for the Royals to reach. Let’s start with the best part. Taj Bradley and Cole Ragans got the start tonight and both were brilliant. Bradley wasn’t overpowering as can be discerned from his 3 Ks in 6 innings of work. Luckily, his control remained strong and he was able to generate mostly weak contact to help him have a clean outing. Meanwhile, Ragans was more of a traditional elite pitcher in the modern game, breaking hitters with his set up, getting 8 Ks in 6 innings and the only run he allowed was thanks to an error so he too did not allow an earned run in his outing. I always appreciate a good pitching duel so this was fun to watch. Sadly, I think the foundation crumbled in the 9th. Minnesota blew the game open thanks to a couple homers and KC couldn’t put up a fight in the bottom.”
