“Italy has cemented eternal embarrassment as they become the first ever multi-time winner of the World Cup to fail qualification 3 times in a row. Meanwhile, Bosnia and Herzegovina are going back to their 2nd World Cup as an independent nation. No matter who won this game; it was going to be their first World Cup since 2014. Italy royally screwed up when Bastoni had an unusually reckless challenge and got sent off with a straight red, leaving Italy with 10 men and the dubious task of hanging on for dear life. Kean missed on a breakaway that could’ve given Italy an essential insurance goal and then was taken off in a baffling move. That decision looked even more foolish when, after what felt like an hour of Italy staying back and absorbing pressure, Bosnia-Herzegovina broke through and leveled it. It was basically worst case scenario, Italy could barely create anything, let alone finish on a chance. Italy continued their conservative play in extra time and penalties couldn’t save them.”
