“Dylan Cease making it look easy as the Blue Jays sent a cease and desist letter to the Red Sox hitters. Cease pitched the rare complete game shutout, his first of the season and the 4th of his admirable career. This game started off looking like a pitcher’s duel that would come down to the wire. No better play demonstrated that than a diving catch from Ceddanne Rafaela to set up a double play that kept the game tied in the 2nd. Too bad the Jays made that play a lot less meaningful when the Jays put up 5 runs in the 3rd. That combined with Cease’s brilliance on the mound made it hopeless for the Red Sox. Cease was actually on no-hit watch briefly when he entered the 6 with no hits given up, only for Monatserio to crack a double and snuff out that flicker of hope. Regardless, still an excellent display of pitching, fitting for a true workhorse ace. George Springer was also great, he was the driving force behind that 3rd inning burst and Vladdy did his fair share to bury the Red Sox.”
