Closer than the final score will make you think, Mariners had multiple opportunities to tie it up or even take the lead. So, going into this game, with their season on the line, the Blue Jays chose to put their fate into the hands and arm of a pitcher that only had 5 MLB games under his belt. The craziest part? That was the right call. While not quite as dominant as his legendary Yankees performance, he kept the Mariners off the scoreboard while generating clutch weak contact to get out of jams. The Jays defense also deserves credit for helping on that front. Yesavage and the defense shutting out the Mariners allowed Barger, Vladdy and IKF to build a lead the Jays would never give up. Partially thanks to an actually good outing for Jeff Hoffman, who would’ve thunk it? More importantly, WE’RE GETTING A GAME 7 BABY, can’t wait!
