Through 1 period, this looked like it would be a back and forth affair. Both teams had their chances, goalies made some saves and Josh Anderson broke the deadlock to give Montreal momentum heading into the 1st intermission. It took just 2 minutes in the 2nd for that momentum to completely erode as the Habs just couldn’t get anything going and Montembault couldn’t give them the saves they needed. It’s rare that you see momentum get snuffed out so quickly, but the Kings managed to do it. Kuemper was poised and in control after the 1st period, but it was the blasts from Joel Edmundson of all people that made the difference, both on the first goal and the Byfield one. After those 2 goals, felt like the Habs are drowsy.
