“The disappointment factor is real. What could’ve been an epic rematch of the division playoffs turned into a slog as the Jared Goff and the Lions, ironically, rammed the ball down Washington’s throat with Gibbs making his case as the 2nd best running back in the NFL (because we all know who #1 is). Believe it or not, I am going to DEFEND Marcus Mariota. And not just because I have a soft spot for the guy. But the Commanders running game couldn’t get anything going. When your top rusher is averaging 2.5 yards per carry, it’s hard to win, especially with a backup QB. Mariota did his job, he was accurate and gave the Commanders a chance. Unfortunately, the Commanders then punted that chance into outer space when they left Brian Branch alone with Mariota.”
