Fun fact: Montreal came into this game on a 9-game losing streak against Minnesota. They hadn’t beat the Wild since before the pandemic (2019!). Uncharacteristic start for the Wild. Montreal had them on their heels so bad they were collapsing onto the ice. All it took was one power play to restore order. Tarasenko gave the Wild the lead. That lead wouldn’t last long as the continued pressure would bite them thanks to a Danault goal. Wouldn’t be long until a shot deflected off of Carrier to make it 2-1 after the 1st. In the 2nd, the pace picked up even more. Brock Faber managed to tie it thanks to a great screen from Hinostroza, only for Hutson to score with a blistering shot. In the 3rd the pace screeched to a halt like. Montreal played so conservatively they were time-wasting while on the powerplay. Didn’t matter, Wild scored on a powerplay after overwhelming the Habs. Montreal stopped being conservative, went back on the attack and Caufield made the Wild pay in the dying seconds.
