“The NHL knew what they were doing. Pinning 2 good offenses against each other that both have sub-par goaltending in Prime Monday Night Hockey, definitely expected a high scoring affair. They got what they hoped for. Including an all time NHL ankle breaker and goal from a McDavid spin. The cleanest ankle breaker since Datsyuk broke Couture’s ankles. McDavid wasn’t the only one breaking ankles, Marchenko, off a Fantili takeaway, with an all time toe drag to leave Mangiapane in the dust and set up the insurance goal Columbus desperately needed with Edmonton grabbing momentum. Only for Edmonton to get a lucky bounce and tie it up anyway. Even I will admit that Skinner is an easy target, but there’s a bigger problem with the Oilers defense, they struggled to get the puck out of their zone. Is goaltending an issue? No doubt. But it would be unfair to put the blame solely on goaltending. It didn’t cost them tonight. Skinner even made a great save in OT right before the winner.”
