“The Habs made the home crowd proud by showing off their resilience and depth in a very feisty contest. The Montreal-faithful welcomed their team back with their signature fiery passion and insanely loud arena; only for Tage Thompson to immediately silence the Bell Centre with a goal less than a minute in. It was the exact kind of start Buffalo needed. The Habs may have been rattled for a couple minutes after that, but quickly managed to take back control in this game, getting chance after chance, until Alex Newhook finally broke through and tied it up before the end of the 1st. Montreal continued their relentless pressure in the 2nd and the floodgates truly opened when Lane Hutson carved through Buffalo and set up Caufield for his first goal of the series and found Slaf for a goal 6 minutes later to make it 4-1. Despite Buffalo’s attempts to intimidate, the Habs only showed courage. Even Dobes was getting into it with Sabres’ players. Montreal has grabbed this series by the horns.”
