The Penguins continue their march towards the playoffs without their captain. Meanwhile, Ty Kartye made his Rangers. Which one do you think made a bigger impact? To be fair, it looked like the Pens were fully capable of beating down the Rangers anyway. Pittsburgh DOMINATED the first 1 and a half periods of this game. Mantha scored early to make it 1-0 and Ryan Shea scored early in the 2nd to make it 2-0. Surely the Pens cruised to victory after that. Well, the Rangers gradually made headway. The big change occurred when Zibnejad scored at the 10-minutes mark of the 2nd, literally turning it into a game of 2 halves. New York hung on to the puck for longer stretches, got the better chances and tied it up before the end of regulation. After a few boring minutes, “Sometimes 3-on-3 can be dreary” was said right before the overtime got good. After some intense back-and-forth and clutch saves, we got a shootout where the Rangers completed the comeback in anti-climactic fashion. Still good.
