Disappointing game in light of all the instant classics we had before, but not the worst game ever. Although, it saddens me greatly to see Slovakia’s magical run end with a whimper. Full disclosure, I was not able to watch the 3rd period because of an appointment. However, I don’t think watching the 3rd was necessary to understand what happened. Slovakia’s conservative style caught up with them. Similar to what happened against Sweden, the Americans jumped on them early, never relented and Slovakia couldn’t pick themselves up fast enough. Was happy to see my guy Martin Pospisil contribute and throw the body around, just wish the rest of his team hadn’t been so off their game. Part of that may have been the very similar uniform colours, but the Slovaks could’ve had giant billboards on their heads and it wouldn’t have mattered. Their goaltender, while brilliant at some points, finally faltered at the worst time. I’ll be rooting for Slovakia against Finland for sure. Great run for them.
