“So close, yet so far. The Rangers were hanging on for dear life while somehow keeping up with the Rays. This one definitely hurts, but I’m surprised we were able to keep it close for so long. We had 2 hits all game and they both came in the same inning. Yet somehow the Rays barely managed to pull this one off. How is that possible? The most obvious reason is pitching. Although I’m not big on an opener, Winn did his job. He went out there and made sure we started strong. Unfortunately the rest of the pitchers were playing with fire (Ahlstrom was an exception). Marco Gonzales nearly gave up more than just 1, Peyton Gray was giving up some scary fly balls and Peoples gave up the winning home run to Cedric Mullins of all people while nearly giving up more. If the hitters could’ve done ANYTHING, I’d be saying “at least they did their job”. Unfortunately, it didn’t matter and the lineup didn’t pull its weight; despite getting a break with Shane getting pulled early. Rays bullpen is different”
