With the Chargers loss, all of a sudden, this game became even more important for AFC West implications. At its heart, this was a defensive battle. Neither offense could get a ton of momentum and often relied on their defense to make a play. Even then, it came down to the offense making one big play. That big play came right at the end. 2 plays after Sutton got the first down on 3rd and 5 by an inch, Box Nix fires a pass right at Franklin to set up the game winning field goal. In the wise words of Joe Montana, Nix didn’t throw a dart at ballons, he threw a ballon at a dart. It’s not sexy, but it gets results. Pat Bryant with the biggest game of his young career, 114 yards, nearly as much as he had all year up to that point. McMillan’s interception on KC’s first 2nd half drive was a massive play to take away a Chiefs TD and exactly the kind of play Denver needed to keep pace while their offense struggled. On the day Kelce sets the all time Chiefs TD record, the Broncos get a big win.
