“The NHL trade deadline rapidly approaches and the Leafs aren’t taking any chances. Spoilers, from someone who knows, Brad ain’t trading McMann, he loves big forwards too much to trade him. At-best, he’s trading Laughton for a 2nd. That aside, this game was actually really good; surprising for 2 massive disappointments. Stolarz kept the Leafs alive, the game started even, but leaned more and more heavily towards New Jersey’s favour. They racked up shots and scoring chances and still neatly lost thanks to Stolarz putting on an incredible performance. Markstrom, while not facing as many shots, made some huge saves, including an incredible goal-line pad save on Robertson to keep it tied late in the 3rd. Late in the 3rd, Luke Hughes set up Connor Brown for the tying goal with a few minutes to go. Then, we got an incredible overtime. So many chances. So many big saves, culminating with a Stolarz paddle save on Mr. Golden Goal. Sadly, this one had to go to a shootout. Wish we got more OT.”
