The Whalers scrap out a great comeback win with a crowd so loud Hartford could feel it. Gotta love those classic Hartford Whalers jerseys. So clean. It looked like they would look amazing in a loss at first. Svechnikov broke through early with a goal and the Canes were generally outplaying the Mammoth. Then Utah got some momentum with a Yamamoto goal. Then Utah got their 2nd goal very controversially when Walker got slashed and the stick came out of his hand, only for his lack of a stick to allow Utah to score on the counter attack for Kailer’s 2nd goal. Canes just couldn’t generate any momentum up to half way through the 3rd when Utah went up 4-2. In classic movie fashion, Rod probably said something like “You guys are Whalers, go prove those fans you deserve that name” and proceeded to complete a frantic 3 goal comeback for the last second win. Svechnikov was absolutely crucial for that win, as was Ghost- Bear but the captain Jordan Stall fittingly won it for them.
