“Gonna be completely honest, I’m being harsh with this one because of the disappointment factor. I was hoping the P’s in this matchup would stand for perfect pitching with a matchup between Skenes and Wheeler. Wheeler had a terrific day, Skenes did not. Through 4 innings it was living up to my hopes, both starters looked rock solid, only allowing a single hit and looking like their dominant selves. After 4, Skenes didn’t have luck on his side, then the Phillies took him behind the woodshed. Phillies scrapped out a couple runs off Skenes in the 5th and Harper sent a message with his solo shot in the 6th, Skenes was done after that inning. Wheeler on the other hand went 8 deep. Instead of a great pitching duel, this felt like what we expected out of the Pirates. A superstar starter that has to be flawless in order for Pittsburgh to win. It’s a shame. Aside from pitching, Stott deserves a shoutout, really blew this game open. Bohm also continued his bounce-back after his horrendous start. ”
