“Darius Acuff may be Calipari’s next NBA superstar. This game was a super close high-scoring matchup. Who on earth would’ve guessed this would be one of the few close games today? High Point’s first ever Round of 32 game and they came for much more than the good feelings. They came to win and they put it all out on the floor. They overcame almost every piece of adversity Arkansas threw their way, they managed to keep it close all the way until the final minutes. Rob Martin had a brilliant 30-point outing and it broke my heart seeing him walk off the court distraught when the loss was confirmed. Sadly for High Point, Acuff was too clutch and too much to stop. His cold 3 to get Arkansas to 90 was the dagger. His 36 points made him the all-time single season scoring leader for Arkansas, fitting that such a vital performance gave him that honour. It’s depressing that High Point was the closest thing we got to a Cinderella story. But they deserve a round of applause for their efforts.”
