“Samuel Basallo comes up huge! Orioles really have to hope he is a player in their future-and maybe even the catcher of the future. I loved Adley Rutschman coming up, thought he would be a superstar, but he has not panned out at all. I honestly haven't heard a thing about him recently, shows how irrelevant he has become for the Orioles who are desperately fighting now to just get out of the cellar of the AL East. Rutschman has been okay this year, .257 with 8 homers, but just not at all the player he was expected to grow into. Basallo on the other hand, with a lower batting average of .248, has shown much better power with 15 dingers this season. While his name hasn't been floated much, I do think it would be worthwhile for the Orioles to look into trading Rutschman at the deadline, I do think they could get some very good value for him. A year and a half of control with the potential to extend him, if you can extract the player he was expected to be, it could be a great move for a team”
