A bad sign going into the break. Here’s my thought process through the 1st half: Jakob Poeltl is back, yay! He’s giving us actual rim protection and inside presence outside of Scottie, yay! Cade Cunningham is cooking us like a rotisserie chicken and the Pistons are scorching us from deep, awww. The Pistons shot 7/9 from 3 in the 2nd quarter alone. Cade Cunningham started the 2nd half with a 3. At that point, it was clear to me the Raptors weren’t going to make a comebacks. We obviously did not and I blame that on our continued inability to make open 3s. Quickley was easily our best shooter and I commend him for that. Barnes was brilliant as usual on defense, but he also added some vital offense. However, the much bigger problem was our rebounding. The lack of Jalen Duren made me think we would be able to compensate for that problem, but Paul Reed stepped in and played like Duren. We even let Tobias Harris get 11 rebounds. That is awful. Getting out rebounded 63-38 is even worse.
