“Ah yes, this game. Danny Jansen made history. June 26, 2024. Jansen is at the plate, 1 out in the top of the 2nd, 0-1 count, and the ump calls the game off. Fast forward to late July, Jansen now gets traded to the Red Sox, then on August 26, 2024, Jansen gets behind the plate for the Sox as they resume the game. Daulton Varsho now steps up to the plate with a strike on him. Jansen not only became the first player to play for both teams in the same game, but to bat and catch in the same at-bat. He also became the first player to hit in the top and bottom of the same inning. Let me know when Shohei Ohtani does that! Just hearing the announcers talk about it when Varsho got the Jays first hit was so funny. 22 game on base streak but this doesn't extend the streak because this is in June even though its August right now! Only thing normal about this game was the fielders being absolute incompetent idiots. And it ruined the Sox in the 8th inning. Red Sox Record on RateGame Tracker: 11-5”

A game that is only significant in the eyes of history, Danny Jansen being the first player to play on both teams in a single game. Unfortunately that didn't boost his skill as he struck out the end things. Frustrating to see the Sox get completely owned by Ryan fucking Yarborough when Pivetta was serving up a gem before the 7th. I don't miss the dogshit defense that cost them dignity as well as advanced the Jays. At least Jarren smacked a dinger to keep them from being shutout, but too little too late. POTG: Danny Jansen for becoming an eternal baseball trivia staple. (Please fix the roster for voting).

Francisco Alvarez with a big 2 home run game. However, he isn't the Francisco the Mets need to step up. Yes, of course some good hitting from Alvarez is a big help, but they need their stars to shine. Juan Soto's doing it, now they need Francisco Lindor to step up. This season does seem dead, and then even more dead considering the fact that I just checked the standings and the only team in the National League worse than them is the Colorado Rockies. Yeah so I thought they had a chance at making a great late season run to the playoffs, but uh...no. I really don't know what the Mets need at this point. They've spent big money, they go and make big trades for guys like Freddy Peralta, and yet it just never seems to come together. At this point I think they need to prioritize young player development, bring guys up through the farm system, have them play together, and maybe that will make them a better team in the majors. But its clear something needs to change within the organization.
