“Sam Ersson beat Logan Thompson in a goalie duel. I’m just as shocked as you are. Albeit this goaltending duel didn’t have a ton of action, still impressive regardless. After a tight first 9 minutes, Ryan Leonard literally takes the puck from Ovechkin and snaps it home for the first goal of the game. The game remained 1-0 going into the 1st intermission. Unfortunately for Washington, the 2nd and 3rd periods would have a theme of costly mistakes. It started with leaving Konecny incredibly wide open on a rush chance. He buried that though Thompson to tie the game. 10 minutes later, a bad giveaway set up a 2-on-0 which Zegras finished. Then in the 3rd, they left Drysdale alone with the puck and all it took was 1 sweet move to get to his spot and snipe it home. The Caps couldn’t do much after that and they lost because of their own errors. Still, the Flyers deserve credit. Ersson was great, but so was Tippett who set up Zegras and sealed it with the empty netter. Could’ve been a better game”
