Peden Stadium is the football home of the Ohio Bobcats in Athens, Ohio, hosting Mid-American Conference football on the banks of the Hocking River. Its riverside setting and modest, historic grandstands give it a throwback feel rare in the modern MAC, and a hillside area known as Victory Hill lets fans watch from beyond the formal seating bowl.
Opened in 1929 as Ohio Stadium at a cost of $185,000, the venue was renamed Peden Stadium after the 1946 retirement of longtime coach and athletic director Don Peden. It is the oldest football stadium in the MAC and among the oldest in the FBS, designed by Osborn Engineering, the same firm behind Fenway Park and the original Yankee Stadium. Capacity has grown from an original 12,000 to 24,000 through renovations in 1986, 1990, and 2001.
