Colonial Life Arena is the home of the South Carolina Gamecocks men's and women's basketball teams in Columbia, South Carolina. It is the largest arena in the state and one of the biggest on-campus venues in the SEC, seating 18,000. Under Dawn Staley, it has become a powerhouse home for a nationally dominant women's program that regularly draws among the largest crowds in women's college basketball, while also hosting concerts, conventions, and graduations.
The arena opened November 22, 2002, replacing the aging Carolina Coliseum, with a near-sellout crowd of 17,712 for the women's season opener against rival Clemson. A signature early moment came in January 2010 when South Carolina upset #1-ranked, undefeated Kentucky. The Gamecocks have hosted NCAA Tournament games there since 2015, including men's first- and second-round games in 2019, and the arena has drawn top touring acts including Elton John, Bruce Springsteen, and Taylor Swift.
