The Stan Sheriff Center is the flagship indoor arena of University of Hawai'i athletics in Honolulu, hosting Rainbow Warriors and Rainbow Wahine basketball alongside the school's nationally elite volleyball programs. As the largest facility in the Big West Conference, it regularly sells out for volleyball, where island crowds bring a raucous, drum-and-chant atmosphere unlike almost anywhere else in college sports. The arena's central Oahu location and multipurpose bowl also make it a hub for graduations, concerts, and civic gatherings across the island.
Opened in 1994 and named for legendary UH athletic director Stan Sheriff, the arena quickly became a proving ground for Hawai'i volleyball, hosting the 1997 men's and 1999 women's NCAA volleyball championships and later the 2004 men's championship. It also hosted the 1998 Miss Universe Pageant and a Team USA basketball tune-up ahead of the 2000 Sydney Olympics. The Rainbow Warriors men's volleyball program has won national titles in 2021 and 2022, and the Rainbow Wahine women's team has been a fixture in the national top 25, both playing before some of the most passionate crowds in the sport.
