Maples Pavilion

Maples Pavilion is the on-campus home of Stanford Cardinal basketball in Stanford, California, hosting both the men's program and one of the most storied women's programs in the country. The compact bowl seats fans close to the action on all sides, giving the arena an intimate, echo-chamber feel rare among Power Conference venues. Game days draw a mix of Stanford students, faculty, and Bay Area alumni, with the student 'Sixth Man Club' anchoring the noise from behind one basket. Its wood-and-glass architecture and Spanish-tile roofline tie it visually to the rest of Stanford's quad.

Maples Pavilion opened in 1969 and has served as the Cardinal's home floor ever since, seating roughly 7,200-7,300 depending on configuration. The women's team, coached for decades by Tara VanDerveer, built much of its national championship-era dominance here, and the building is well known among players for its unusually 'bouncy' hardwood, a byproduct of the floor's construction that visiting teams still comment on today. It has hosted numerous NCAA Tournament games over the years and remains one of the longest continuously used arenas in Division I basketball. A series of renovations modernized locker rooms, seating, and video boards while preserving the original bowl.
