Warren McGuirk Alumni Stadium is the home of the UMass Minutemen football team in Hadley/Amherst, Massachusetts. It has been the program's home since 1965 and is named for former UMass athletic director Warren McGuirk. The stadium's compact, on-campus setting gives Minutemen games a close, community feel typical of New England college football. It remains the site of UMass's transition from FCS power to FBS independent.
Opened in 1965, the stadium was home to the 1998 UMass team that won the program's first-ever national championship, defeating top-ranked Georgia Southern 55-43 in the NCAA Division I-AA (FCS) title game. That championship season also set the stadium's record single-season average attendance, at 12,811. UMass has since moved up to the FBS level, but McGuirk remains the enduring home turf where the program built its most storied era.
