Stuart C. Siegel Center

The Stuart C. Siegel Center is the home arena of the VCU Rams men's and women's basketball teams in downtown Richmond, Virginia, with the court set inside E.J. Wade Arena. It's a compact, sold-out-feeling building where the crowd sits close to the action, and the Rams have built one of the most disruptive home-court reputations in mid-major basketball there. Students pack in tight behind the baskets, and the noise carries well above what the seating number would suggest. Game nights lean loud and frenetic, matching the pressing, trapping style VCU is known for.

Opened in 1999, the Siegel Center gave VCU a modern on-campus home and quickly became known as one of the loudest, most intimidating mid-major venues in the country. It has been the staging ground for the Rams' pressure-defense 'Havoc' identity, most famously under coach Shaka Smart, whose 2011 team rode that style all the way to a Final Four appearance. The building has hosted numerous Atlantic 10 and Colonial Athletic Association battles and remains central to VCU's home-court edge. Its size and sightlines keep fans on top of the floor, amplifying the arena's reputation as a tough road environment for visiting teams.
