Daikin Park
Overview
Daikin Park is the home of the Houston Astros and one of baseball's most distinctive retractable-roof ballparks. Located in downtown Houston, the venue brought outdoor baseball back to the city after 35 years in the Astrodome. The 242-foot retractable roof was a first-of-its-kind innovation, allowing open-air baseball while protecting from Houston's heat and rain. The ballpark's classic architecture and natural grass evoke baseball's Golden Age.
History & Legacy
The stadium opened in 2000 as Enron Field and was later renamed Minute Maid Park before becoming Daikin Park. The $250 million ballpark was approved by voters in 1996 and designed by HOK. In its inaugural season, it drew over 3 million fans. The venue has hosted World Series games, including the Astros' championship runs. It replaced the Astrodome as Houston's baseball home.
