Bud Walton Arena is the home of the Arkansas Razorbacks basketball program in Fayetteville, Arkansas. It is one of the largest on-campus basketball arenas in the country, seating close to 19,000 fans in a steep, enclosed bowl. Game nights draw some of the loudest crowds in the SEC, a legacy of the program's championship-era heyday. The arena's scale and sightlines make it a marquee stop for visiting SEC teams.
Opened in November 1993 and named for Walmart co-founder Bud Walton, the arena was nicknamed the 'Basketball Palace of Mid-America' and christened during the Nolan Richardson era that delivered Arkansas's 1994 national championship. The Razorbacks reached the national title game again in 1995 while playing home games there. Its size and energy have made it one of the SEC's signature basketball venues for three decades. The arena remains the centerpiece of Arkansas basketball's identity as a football-first program with a proud hoops tradition.
