Lane Stadium

Lane Stadium is the home of Virginia Tech Hokies football in Blacksburg, Virginia, widely regarded as one of the loudest and most intimidating venues in the ACC. Its steep upper decks and tight sightlines trap crowd noise over the field, and the pregame entrance ritual has become a signature moment in college football. The mountain-town setting and passionate Hokie fan base give game days an unmistakable, electric character.

The stadium, known formally as Lane Stadium/Worsham Field, opened in 1965 with a capacity of 35,000 and has been expanded repeatedly to its current size. It is famous nationwide for the 'Enter Sandman' entrance, introduced in 2000, in which the team takes the field to Metallica's song as the entire crowd jumps in unison, a moment regularly ranked among the best traditions in college sports. The stadium has hosted Virginia Tech's rise into a national program under Frank Beamer, including numerous top-10 matchups and ACC championship-era teams. It remains the emotional center of Hokies football.
