Petersen Events Center

The Petersen Events Center, known as 'The Pete,' is the basketball arena of the University of Pittsburgh Panthers, competing in the ACC. It hosts Pitt men's and women's basketball atop Cardiac Hill, with roughly 12,500 seats packed close to the court in a steep, compact bowl. The arena's hillside location and vertical seating bowl give it a notoriously loud, on-top-of-the-action atmosphere on big nights.

The Petersen Events Center opened in 2002 and quickly became one of the toughest home courts in the old Big East era, when Pitt strung together long home winning streaks under coaches Ben Howland and Jamie Dixon. The arena regularly ranked among the nation's most intimidating venues during Pitt's run of NCAA Tournament appearances in the 2000s. Since Pitt's move to the ACC in 2013, 'The Pete' has continued to host marquee conference matchups and top-25 showdowns.
