Joseph G. Echols Hall

Joseph G. Echols Hall is the home of the Norfolk State Spartans basketball teams at Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Virginia. The roughly 4,500-seat arena hosts Spartans men's and women's basketball in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. Its energetic HBCU crowd and marching-band presence give home games at Echols Hall a distinctive atmosphere within the MEAC. The building remains the center of Norfolk State's basketball program.

Opened in November 1982, Echols Hall has hosted Spartans basketball through the program's run in the MEAC, including the 2011-12 season in which Norfolk State advanced to the NCAA Tournament and stunned No. 2 seed Missouri as a No. 15 seed, one of the biggest upsets in tournament history. That Spartans team, led by Kyle O'Quinn, called Echols Hall home throughout its historic run. The arena is named for Joseph G. Echols, a longtime figure in the university's athletics history, and remains the Spartans' home court in the MEAC today.
