Kroger Field is the home stadium of the Kentucky Wildcats football team in Lexington, Kentucky, competing in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). It seats roughly 61,000 spectators and, despite being one of the newer stadiums by original construction date in the SEC, delivers a full big-conference game-day atmosphere on Kentucky's campus.
Opened in 1973 as Commonwealth Stadium with an original capacity of about 57,800, the venue debuted with a Kentucky win over Virginia Tech and has since been expanded to roughly 61,000 seats. It was renamed Kroger Field in 2017 under a 12-year naming-rights agreement with the Cincinnati-based grocery retailer. It remains a longtime SEC football home and hosts the Governor's Cup rivalry game against Louisville.
