Beaver Stadium is the home of Penn State Nittany Lions football in University Park, Pennsylvania. It is one of the largest stadiums in the world and a defining venue of Big Ten football. The bowl swallows more than 100,000 fans on fall Saturdays, and the roar at kickoff is one of the loudest in the sport. A major ongoing renovation is modernizing concourses and premium seating while the stadium stays in use.
Opened in 1960 and expanded many times to an official capacity above 106,000, Beaver Stadium is famous for its 'White Out' games, when the entire crowd dresses in white to create one of college football's most intimidating environments. It has hosted Penn State teams through the Joe Paterno era's national championships and into the current program under James Franklin. A $700 million revitalization project begun in the mid-2020s is adding a new upper bowl on the west side, expected to push capacity toward 109,000. Beaver Stadium remains the second-largest stadium in the Western Hemisphere.
