SECU Stadium

SECU Stadium is the football home of the Maryland Terrapins in College Park, Maryland. It has carried several names over the decades — Byrd Stadium, Maryland Stadium, Capital One Field, and now SECU Stadium under a 2022 naming-rights deal. The stadium anchors Maryland's athletics campus just outside Washington, D.C., with a red-and-black-clad student section known for its energy on Big Ten Saturdays.

The stadium opened on September 30, 1950, as Byrd Stadium, named for former player, coach, and university president Harry 'Curley' Byrd. The Byrd name was dropped amid objections over his history on segregation, and the venue was renamed Maryland Stadium before a series of corporate naming-rights deals — Chevy Chase Bank Field, Capital One Field, and finally SECU Stadium in 2022. Renovations funded by those deals modernized the bowl while the Terrapins moved from the ACC to the Big Ten in 2014, adding a new wave of high-profile conference matchups to the stadium's history.
