LaVell Edwards Stadium

LaVell Edwards Stadium is the on-campus football stadium of the BYU Cougars in Provo, Utah. Set beneath the Wasatch Range, it's regularly ranked among the most scenic settings in college football, with mountain views towering over the bowl on clear fall Saturdays. The stadium anchors BYU's campus and has been the site of the program's rise from regional independent to a nationally relevant football brand. Game days blend BYU's passionate fan base with the dramatic backdrop that makes the venue instantly recognizable on television.

The stadium opened in 1964 as Cougar Stadium and was expanded in 1982, pushing capacity past 65,000 ahead of BYU's undefeated 1984 season, which culminated in the program's only consensus national championship. It was renamed in 2000 for legendary coach LaVell Edwards, whose four-decade tenure built BYU into a passing-offense powerhouse and who led the Cougars to that 1984 title. The stadium has since been reconfigured to its present capacity while remaining the backdrop for decades of BYU football tradition. It continues to host the Cougars' biggest rivalry and bowl-eligibility games each season.
