Protective Stadium

Protective Stadium is a modern football stadium in Birmingham, Alabama, serving as the home of the UAB Blazers. It is part of the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex in the heart of downtown, giving UAB football a big-city stage minutes from the campus. Its open, bowl-style design and downtown skyline backdrop make it a striking venue on fall Saturdays.

Opened in 2021, the stadium gave UAB football a modern downtown home after decades split between Legion Field and a shuttered program (2015-2016) that was ultimately reinstated by fan and donor pressure. It also hosts the annual Birmingham Bowl and has become a regular site for high school and other championship events in the city. The stadium symbolizes UAB football's revival from cancellation to a stable Group of Five program.
