War Memorial at the Sobrato Center

War Memorial Gymnasium at the Sobrato Center is the basketball home of the San Francisco Dons on the USF campus. The historic venue hosts USF men's and women's basketball and volleyball in a tight, old-school gym setting that gives West Coast Conference road teams a genuinely difficult atmosphere. Its renovated interior blends midcentury character with modern amenities.

Originally built in 1958, War Memorial is among the oldest active arenas in the West Coast Conference and has hosted USF basketball through multiple championship-era rosters. A $15 million gift from John and Susan Sobrato funded a major renovation, with the reborn Sobrato Center completed in 2021 to modernize the facility while preserving its historic gym feel. It remains one of the more storied venues in West Coast college basketball.
