The JMA Wireless Dome, formerly the Carrier Dome, is the domed stadium on the Syracuse University campus and home to the Orange football and basketball teams. It remains the largest domed stadium on any college campus and, with close to 30,000 seats configured for hoops, the largest on-campus basketball venue in the country. Its air-supported roof era gave way to a fixed roof after a major 2020s renovation, and it still hosts some of college sports' loudest, most electric crowds. Beyond athletics, the Dome is a fixture for concerts and regional events in central New York.
Opened in 1980 as the Carrier Dome, it took its current name in 2022 as part of a multiyear, roughly $118 million renovation that added a fixed roof, a new center-hung scoreboard, and air conditioning. For decades it set and reset on-campus college basketball attendance records thanks to its cavernous capacity. The building has also long hosted Orange football, drawing some of the Atlantic Coast Conference's biggest crowds under its distinctive roofline. Its transformation from air-supported dome to fixed-roof stadium marked one of the most significant modernizations of a college venue in recent years.
