Jerry Richardson Stadium

Jerry Richardson Stadium is the home of the Charlotte 49ers football program in Charlotte, North Carolina. It opened in 2013 to launch the university's first football team and is named for former Carolina Panthers owner and Charlotte alumnus Jerry Richardson, whose donation helped fund the project. The stadium's compact, on-campus bowl gives 49ers games an intimate, student-driven atmosphere.

Opened on August 31, 2013, the stadium hosted the debut of Charlotte football, a 52-7 win over Campbell in front of an announced crowd of 16,630. That inaugural season launched a program that moved to FBS and Conference USA within a few years of its first kickoff, a rare modern example of a major program built from scratch.
