Don Haskins Center

The Don Haskins Center is the home arena of the UTEP Miners in El Paso, Texas, seating roughly 11,900 fans. It hosts the school's Conference USA basketball games and doubles as a regional concert and events venue. The building's name honors one of college basketball's most historically significant coaches, and its scale makes it one of the larger arenas in the conference. Miners basketball nights draw a border-region crowd proud of the program's landmark history.

Opened in 1977, the arena is named for legendary coach Don Haskins, who led Texas Western College (now UTEP) to the 1966 NCAA national championship, famously starting five Black players for the first time in title-game history — a moment widely credited with helping break down racial barriers in college basketball. Haskins coached at the school for 38 seasons, and the arena stands as a living monument to that legacy. It remains one of the sport's most historically important venues for what it represents beyond the box score.
