Spartan Stadium (MI)

Spartan Stadium is the on-campus home of Michigan State Spartans football in East Lansing, Michigan, and one of the Big Ten's most historic venues. The bowl now seats close to 75,000 and has grown through numerous expansions since it first opened nearly a century ago. Its green-and-white color scheme and deep-set bowl create an imposing atmosphere for visiting teams. The stadium is central to one of college football's oldest rivalry traditions, the Paul Bunyan Trophy game against Michigan.

Spartan Stadium opened in 1923 as Macklin Field and has been expanded many times since, growing from an original capacity of a few thousand to its current size. A 2004-2005 renovation project added luxury suites and club seating, and a later reconfiguration around 2021 adjusted seating counts as amenities were upgraded further. The stadium has hosted decades of Big Ten football and the annual Paul Bunyan Trophy game against Michigan. It remains the emotional and competitive center of Michigan State athletics.
