Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum, known as LJVM Coliseum, is the home of the Wake Forest Demon Deacons men's basketball team in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. It hosts the Deacons in the ACC and has long served as a secondary off-campus arena in addition to Wake Forest's on-campus facility. The building's classic 1980s bowl design and steep upper deck give it a loud, old-school ACC basketball atmosphere. Beyond Demon Deacon games, it is a regular stop for high school championships, concerts, and touring events across the Triad region.
The coliseum is named for Lawrence Joel, a Winston-Salem native and Vietnam War Army medic who earned the Medal of Honor for his heroism under fire. Opened in 1989 as a replacement for the original 1955 Winston-Salem Memorial Coliseum, it has hosted Wake Forest basketball, ACC tournament games, and NCAA tournament first- and second-round action over the decades. It has also welcomed WWE events, concerts, and North Carolina high school basketball championships. The venue remains a key piece of Winston-Salem's sports and entertainment history even as Wake Forest has shifted more games on-campus.
