Allen Fieldhouse

Phog Allen Fieldhouse is the home of Kansas Jayhawks basketball in Lawrence, Kansas, one of the most storied arenas in college basketball. It seats about 15,300 and is named for legendary coach Forrest 'Phog' Allen, the 'Father of Basketball Coaching.' Opened in 1955, the fieldhouse is famous for its thunderous 'Rock Chalk, Jayhawk' chant and one of the sport's most dominant home-court records. James Naismith, the inventor of basketball, coached at Kansas, and his original rules of the game are displayed on campus, deepening KU's claim as a birthplace of the sport. The fieldhouse floor is named for Naismith, while the building itself honors Allen, Naismith's successor, tying the arena directly to the game's origins.
