History & Legacy

The arena opened in 1972 and was renamed for Maravich in 1977 after his tragic death. Shaquille O'Neal, Chris Jackson, and Ben Simmons are among the stars who played there. The venue has hosted NCAA Tournament games and numerous SEC championship moments. LSU's 1986 Final Four team and subsequent success have built the PMAC's reputation. The Deaf Dome remains one of the most feared road venues in the SEC.
